Berserk Chapter 367-The Most Hyped I've Ever Been

Like many fans, I reluctantly accepted that Berserk would remain an unfinished work after the tragic passing of its legendary creator, Kentaro Miura. That was until I serendipitously discovered the announcement that Berserk would be continued under the same studio and under the direction of Koji Mori, acclaimed author of Holyland, Miura’s best friend of many years, and a crucial figure in Berserk’s development.

To say these last three chapters have been exhilarating would be an understatement. Griffith has manifested on Elfhelm using the Moonlight Boy as a medium, enshrouding the island in distress. His mere presence excited the island’s fauna, invoked trepidation in Puck, Schierke, and Danan, induced Casca’s traumatized agony, and enraged Guts, who was able to quell the Berserker armor. The veritable savior of humanity has emerged. This is monumental.

There are some interesting details I noticed in these last few chapters:

  1. Griffith chose to temporarily abandon his duties as the ruler of Falconia in lieu of mobilizing any of the formidable warriors in his demonic legion. This could be due to Elfhelm’s powerful enchantments preventing such invasions. Griffith may have been able to bypass the enchantments by materializing through the Moonlight Boy. Curiously, Zodd has also bypassed the enchantments, which might be addressed later.

  2. Danan calls Griffith a "rising tide from the depths of the Earth," referring to Griffith’s status as a member of the Godhand.

  3. Zodd’s fist seems to have struck Guts through a spiraled portal. This is presumably Zodd’s new ability, as Griffith has never interfered in a fight between the two of them. Although Guts appears to consider Zodd a hindrance instead of an adversary, this reaffirms Zodd’s strength as a rival.

  4. Griffith is unscratched by the Dragonslayer, meaning that there is little prospect of him ever wounding Griffith–at least not without magical assistance.

  5. Griffith is carrying an unconscious Casca. I have no idea where he is taking Casca, why he wants her, or why he hasn’t kidnapped Casca until now.

Overall, I’m elated that Berserk is continuing, and these latest chapters have been astounding.
